Coastal Vision Outreach Project 2019

Eyes may be our profession, but hearts are in focus at Coastal Vision.    Community outreach, as well as in-office pro bono eye care are fundamental aspects of our mission and purpose.

Our Coastal Vision Cares Initiative has been in place now for 5 years.  During that time, we've been blessed with a fruitful partnership with our friends at Homeland Disciples.  Every Thursday afternoon, they've transported homeless or nearly-homeless individuals to our office for pro bono eye care and free glasses.   We've also extended pro bono glaucoma care to several of these individuals on Friday afternoons.  In 2018, we provided 95 exams, 90 glasses and $28,000 to local charity.

Once a year, we take our show on the road.  Our team packs up our equipment and glasses and we set up at a local Virginia Supportive Housing center.      This year's Outreach Project was at a center in Chesapeake.   We also brought some coffee and donuts for the folks at the center to provide a little pick-me-up.

We want to say thank you to Homeland Disciples for continuing to provide us with opportunities to support this wonderful community of people in need.   In the last 5 years, you've helped us understand the meaning of James 2:14-17.

Thank you to our team of staff who volunteered their Saturdays to serve with expectations of nothing in return.   Coastal Vision has an amazing team who never blink when it comes to helping achieve our outreach mission.  Big hearts!

Most of all, we want to thank the patients of Coastal Vision.  You make this all possible.   Without the trust you place in Coastal Vision, we simply would not have the resources to continue to provide care to in-need individuals in our local community.
